If you are a new to tennis, it is recommended to get a coach. It is worth the investment for a lifelong sports enjoyment. Tennis is easy to learn.

The Grip Size








Learn the correct Tennis Technique

1) Serve

  • Continental
  • Stance, front foot almost parallel, to the baseline
  • Knees pointing to the side
  • Body sideways
  • Half serve- Racket face behind head & elbow pointing down
  • Full serve - Down together Up together. Left shoulder higher than right and elbow still pointing down.
  • When hitting the serve, head is never up right(Shoulder over Shoulder)
  • Pronation of the wrist will lead to the follow through going to the same side first than the shoulder turn will lead to the follow through to the opposite side, plus hip turn will lead to pivoting of the right foot.

2) Forehand

  • Eastern, Semi-Western & Western
  • Stance-Open, Neutral or Close
  • Shoulder must turn which ever stance the student uses
  • Straight backwing or Loop backswing(depends on level)
  • Backswing elbow bend close to the body
  • Contact- Elbow straight or bend depends on the grips
  • Follow through- Elbow in front of the face, but racket depends on grips

3) Single Backhand

  • Eastern(Try not to use extreme Backhand Grip)
  • Stance- Preferred Close but sometimes open(Return of Serve)
  • Shoulder must turn which server stance the student uses
  • Straight backswing or Loop backswing(Depends on Level)
  • Backswing- Elbow bent
  • Contact- Elbow straight and in front of the body
  • Follow through- Elbow straigh with racket head pointing upwards and body standing sideway.

4) Single Backhand

  • Easter/Eastern, Continental/Eastern, Continental/Semi-Western
  • Stance- Open, Semi-Open, Neutral, Close
  • Shoulder must turn which ever stance the student uses
  • Straight backwing or Loop backswing(Depends on Level)
  • Backswing elbow straight or bends on the grips
  • Follow through- Left elbow in front of the face and racket on the opposite shoulder

5) Forehand Volley

  • Continental
  • Stance - Close
  • No backswing with racket pointing about 45 degree upwards
  • Chest must be pointing to the contact poing with left arm parallel to the right
  • Block or catch the ball without follow through

5) Backhand Volley

  • Continental
  • Stance - Close
  • No backswing with racket pointing about 45 degree upwards(left hand holding the throat of the racket)
  • Chest must be pointing to the contact poing with left arm parallel to the right
  • Block or catch the ball without follow through(Left hand goes to the back when contacting the ball)

 

6) Smash

  • Continental
  • Half backswing and taking a steps backwards. The rest is the same as the Serve
